A. Ellis (no dates), attributed, Portrait of a Boy and Dog, ca. 1835. This is one of fewer than than 20 portraits by the same hand. It is attributed to A. Ellis, based on a signed painting at the New York Historical Association in Cooperstown, New York. Most of Ellis’s sitters lived in central Maine or New Hampshire.
