Drawings in this gallery are made by Andrew Mount who uses ink, marker, graphite and pencil on 16×20″ digital inkjet prints, on cotton rag archival paper. The images are drawn from the artist's "image bank" and are both a ground and a presence in the work. The notion of ground is important in these works because the images Andrew applies to them are all drawn from familiar shapes we live with. One might group them within isotypes of safety - badges, logos and IDs. These shapes carry authority, allowing us to perpetuate their need (presence), and yet, contrarily, their locale, in the background of our visual stimuli and of thought.
These works will be continued, and further developed by Andrew Mount through printmaking and painting. undefined
