Andrey Yalanskiy -a painter, the National Artist of Ukraine, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.
Born on October 19, 1959 in Kyiv. Received professional education studying at a private studio of V.I. Zaretskyi (1977-1978) and Kyiv State Art Institute from which he graduated in easel painting from Professor V.V. Shatalin’s workshop (1978-1984). During 1988-1991 he trained under the tutelage of professor T.M. Gholembievska in the creative workshops of the Academy of Arts of the USSR.
He works mainly in the genre of classic and traditional realistic landscape and considers his choice to be his creative credo trying not to be a "fashionable innovator”. His landscapes are filled with breath of human presence, even if the person is "outside the frame" as he often depicted architectural motives. It can be a warm and man-made Ukrainian hut and the Cathedral of St. Mark in Venice and wonderful architecture of Paris or London.
The painter teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture and is an assistant professor of the department of painting and composition. He is also the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts.
Since 1981 the artist’s works have been exhibited at local exhibitions and since 1986 - at the international exhibitions.
