The bridge to the Weerd Gate in Utrecht is so steep that there were even "bruggentrekkers" (bridge pullers) who for a small fee helped to draw heavy carts over the steep canal bridge. These men were commonly referred to as the kar-ga-door (the cart goes through or over).
