Carolin Prinn is a figurative painter & visual artist currently in Berlin. Born in Boston with heritage from New Zealand, Prinn's work ventures between realism and the imagined worlds, exploring interests in the human psyche, philosophy and the power of the story. Creating in oil, fine washes of acrylic and pen & ink, Prinn's ouevre often references her commentative and magical realist world, The Stories of Niljora. Working from studios in The United States, France, and New Zealand, Prinn has built a steady flow of exhibitions and commissions in the national and international scene – with works in private collections in North America, France, Germany, and New Zealand. Alongside commissions in illustration, Prinn has also gained esteem in recent years for her works in portraiture. She is a selected finalist for the biennial Adam Portraiture Awards in 2016, and 2014. A self-taught artist from a young age, Prinn learned to draw and paint from life, the imagination and frequent visits to the museums. Granted their Artistic Award Scholarship, she then earned an Honours B.F.A. in Painting from The Savannah College of Art & Design in 2010. A residence and oil painting workshop in Lacoste, France culminated in her first international exhibitions. Prinn also works writing her tales, The Stories of Niljora©, and on her illustrated label, Prinn Walker & Ravenswood. (http://carolinprinn.blogspot.nl/p/about.html)
