Catherine Florendo received a BFA in Illustration from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They're interested in visual development, product design, and children’s book illustration.
Their work consists of creating and exploring new environments and representing people of color through their characters. They find that there isn’t enough representation of people of color in the media, and it’s important to them that they create this content for not just themselves but for others to identify with. Catherine conveys playfulness through their use of bright colors, and simple flat stylization of characters; they also incorporate a sense of energy with dynamic compositions and repetition of elements throughout their work. In addition to the flat style, they include textures by using line, pattern, flora and fauna. undefined
