Artwork Title: Dood musje (Dead Sparrow)

Dood musje (Dead Sparrow), 1941

Coen Van Oven

Beautiful drawing, made in wartime A beautiful drawing in a style that we do not know of the painter. The signature in an elegant figure is also unique. Robert de Clercq, son of Govert, reports that his grandmother, Riets de Clercq-Stoop, received this drawing from the painter (her nephew). His grandmother told Robert that Coen chose this sad topic, dejected by the injustice and the misdeeds of the German occupier. [http://stichtingcoenvanoven.nl/werken/dood-musje-1941/]
