1880 - Born April 11 near North Manchester, Indiana, son of Daniel Garber (1828-1911) and Elizabeth Blickenstaff (Mrs. Samuel C.) Shively (1838-82)
1897 - Summer, enrolls at Art Academy of Cincinnati, Ohio, attends for two years
1899 - First documented exhibition including Garber's work, the Sixth Annual Exhibition of American Art, held at the Cincinnati Art Museum, Ohio
1900-1905 - Attends Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with exception of the 1903-1904 academic year. Also works as commercial artist
1909-1950 - Teaches at The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
1911 - Awarded Potter Palmer Gold Medal and $1000
1913 - Elected Academician of the National Academy of Design, NY
1921 - Awarded First William A. Clark Prize of $2000 and Corcoran Gold Medal
1947 - Elected member of the American Institute of Arts and Letters, NY
1958 - Died on July 5 in Cuttalossa, Lumberville, Pennsylvania
