Canadian-born, Chicago-based artist David Hartt uses a variety of media to unpack the social, cultural, and economic complexities of his subject matter. His works often explore ways in which historic ideals persist or transform over time.
Hartt graduated with an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1994. His work has been recently exhibited at the Carnegie Museum of Art (Pittsburgh, PA); the Studio Museum in Harlem (New York, NY); the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago (Chicago, IL); David Nolan Gallery (New York, NY); and Corbett vs. Dempsey (Chicago, IL), among others.
