Artwork Title: Part of the Cliff

Part of the Cliff, 1946

Georgia O'Keeffe

Intense color was part of O’Keeffe’s everyday landscape in the Southwest. She said New Mexico was “a painter’s country,” and she enjoyed using a broader palette. At Ghost Ranch, she turned to reds, pinks, and purples to paint hills and mountains, and pinks and yellows to depict the stony cliffs visible from her house. “Out here,” she told a friend, “half your work is done for you.” (https://designlifenetwork.com/georgia-okeeffe-living-modern-virtual-tour/)
