John was born Jan. 18, 1945. He lives and works in Duluth, Minnesota where he teaches workshops, makes presentations and participates in painting events around the world. He won more than 230 major awards in national and international exhibitions, including the American Watercolor Society Gold Medal twice, the National Watercolor Society Silver Star First Place Award twice, the Transparent Watercolor Society of America Skyledge First Place Award 3 times and the Allied Artist Silver and Gold Medals of Honor. He was awarded the Biennial Award in the Shanghai Zhujiajiao International Watercolor Biennial and represented the United States in the Lushan Mountain Watercolor Festival in China. He was recently awarded the Ministry of Arts and Culture of Thailand Award for Realism. John has been an invited artist in over international watercolor exhibitions and in several small group exhibitions in China, Taiwan, Thailand, Russia, Singapore, Mexico, Italy, Turkey, Belgium and Australia. undefined
