Jorge Cardoso, from a very early age has had contact with the art worlds. The first endeavors were the “Free Expression Workshops” organized by Elvira Leite.
Later his activities had a more financial and managerial nature with the creation of Vantag Gallery and the participation in the group of founders of Nasoni and Atlântica galleries. With the latter he had access to the most important international art fairs. At the same time he was developing his skills as a collector. Parallel to these initiatives as gallerist and art collector, he investigated the most theoretical aspects of art with countless readings about art history and specially art theory. This whole process was the foundation that prepared his decision – when the timing was right - to present his own artistic expression, mainly in the field of conceptual art. Since photography was a lifelong passion, it was chosen as one of the means to express is artistic ideas. The permanent quest for innovation led him to develop a new process in the field of printmaking – the lithopass – together with a team from Cooperativa Árvore.
Always maintaining a critical standpoint to the hermeticism in the current process of writing about art, Jorge Cardoso chose to write about the same topics but in accessible language. This process led, from theory to practice, to his exercising the functions of commissioner / curator on several exhibitions. undefined
