Artwork Title: One Second (She was)

One Second (She was), 2013

Lilli Carré

"One Second (She was)" is displayed in two concurrent forms: a looped animation presented on a monitor and, on an adjacent wall, twelve drawings that Carré used to generate the animations, all framed toegether. The individual frames are hung in sequence and allow the viewer to both experience the drawings as a composite and to compare the singular frames to their moving counterpart—effectively demystifying the process of animation and providing an opportunity to see the work both in space and in time. This piece was first exhibited at Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art in a solo show from December 17, 2013 to April 15, 2014. 12 sequential animation panels, framed in order as one contiguous drawing, accompanied by HD looping 30 second animation of the Strange Snow animation frames on DVD or USB stick
