Born in Mexico City in 1966 where he currently lives and works, Luis Felipe Ortega was part of a group of artists at the forefront of contemporary artistic practice in Mexico during the 1990s. Together with fellow artists such as Gabriel Orozco, Damian Ortega, Abraham Cruzvillegas and Daniel Guzmán, he participated as one of the original artists of Kurimanzutto Gallery in Mexico City. His works spans across a wide range of media, including drawing, video, photography, sculpture and installation. He transforms everyday materials and images into unexpected and charged artistic declarations. Ortega´s scope often transcends individual artistic practice, as his collaborative works with Daniel Guzmán, his participation in Temístocles 44 and in Casper editorial project, and his academic activity attest. In 2011, he joined MARSO with his participation in the group exhibition “1,2 Volumen”. undefined
