Marie-Éléonore Godefroid (20 June 1778 in Paris – 1849), was a French portrait painter.
Daughter and student of the painter Ferdinand-Joseph Godefroid, she became a professor of arts and music at the institute of Saint-Germain de Jeanne Campan, before quitting in 1795 to dedicate herself completely to painting. She entered the studio of baron Gérard. She was also a student of Isabey, who painted portraits in oil, aquarel and pastels.
Since 1800 she exhibited numerous portraits at the Louvre. These included a full-length portrait, from 1810, of the children of Marshal Ney, portraits of the children of the Duke of Rovigo and Queen Hortense in 1812, portraits of the children of the Duke of Orleans in 1819 and 1822 and those of the Duke of Orleans and Monsieur and Madame de Guiche in 1827. Furthermore, she also portrayed Abd el-Kader, the painter David, Jeanne Campan, Germaine de Stael, Talleyrand and Marshal Lauriston, amongst others. She also created several portraits that were not exhibited, for instance: the portraits of Mrs Oudenarde, the Latour Maubourg Countess, the famous violinist Pierre Rode, Camille Jordan whose portrait was engraved by Mullier.
According to Baron Gerard, Godefroid also painted several copies and reproductions for the government, amongst others the portraits of Louis XVIII and Charles X . She obtained several medals for her exhibitions at M. R. , in 1812 and 1824. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marie-%C3%89l%C3%A9onore_Godefroid) undefined
