Mario de Vega, Mexico City 1979. Lives and works in Berlin and Mexico City. Through site-specific interventions, process-oriented projects, sculpture and actions, Mario de Vega’s work brings attention to human capacities and incapacities of perception.
In his artistic practice he raises questions and confronts human vulnerability and perception of reality by its dislocation. His work produces situations for specific spaces, using the context to explore the value of fragility and indetermination, assuming the impossibility of control of both the actions and the results of his interventions. Thereby, leaving space to the exploration and reflection about the factors of the unknown, the uncanny, the unseen, the unheard, and thus the unpredictable.
In the context of music, his practice explores the value of instability involving a wide rangeof self-designed electronic devices, electromechanical systems and computer basedinterfaces in different combinations, performing both solo and in collaborations with a wide range of musicians.
His work has appeared in different contexts throughout Europe, Mexico, North and South America, Russia, India, South Africa, Korea and Japan. undefined
