Raised in Kaysville, Utah with a tiny family of just 7 brothers and sisters! After high school he took two years to serve a mission in New Zealand and when he came home he started a Sign and Graphic Design Company which he ran successfully for 17 years while raising a family of two sons and a daughter with his beautiful wife Jeanette, before deciding; at the young age of 44, to sale the business and take a chance on chasing his dream of being an artist. He was accepted into the Bachelor of Fine Art program at Weber State University. Where he put off oil painting until the very end because he was scared that he couldn’t do it. Once he began though he couldn’t get enough, he loved it and wanted to continue chasing this newfound passion. He set his sights on earning a Masters of Fine Art degree and was accepted into the renowned Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. Selling their home and most of their belongings, Mark , his supportive wife and their 7-year-old daughter packed the truck and began the 2,400 mile drive across the country to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where they didn’t even have a place to live lined up. This they say, “just added to the adventure.” While earning his degree at PAFA, his talent as an artist grew rapidly through the great critiques and tutelage of his instructors. His passion for art was like a flame with kerosene poured on it as he immersed himself into the the rich art history of Philadelphia, New York and Washington DC. After graduating and with his Masters diploma in hand, it was time to head back home. Mark established a studio/gallery in the picturesque Huntsville, UT where he paints full time. His work has received many awards, been featured in International Artist Magazine, Fine Art Connoisseur, and is included in many private and public collections in the US, Canada, Spain and Italy.
