Martin-Guillaume Biennais (1764-1843) was one of the principle Parisian artisans of the late 18th century and the early decades of the 19th century. His workshop, at the sign of the “Green Monkey”, was known to all the important collectors of the time, including Baron Vivant Denon. Goldsmith to the Imperial Court and official supplier to the Garde-meuble under Napoléon Bonaparte, he also worked as a cabinetmaker and a bronzier, receiving many commissions from the Imperial Garde-meuble and important members of Napoleon’s inner circle. He retired in 1819. undefined
