He was born in Tokyo, Japan. Over his lifetime he created over 70 designs. His best known piece is the Japanese Fish Picture Collection (Dai Nihon gyorui gashu). Although this is his most famous piece of work, he also created many landscapes and a few still lives. After 1923 Great Kantō earthquake, he moved to Kansai. He was an honorary member of the Hyogo Prefecture Academy of Fine Arts, and a member of Taiheiyogakai." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ohno_Bakufu
"Ohno Bakufu worked as a successful painter and printmaker during the first half of the twentieth century. He is mostly known for his fish prints, mainly the series 'Dai Nihon Gyorui Gashu'. But he has more to offer than images of fish. He made some fine landscape and nature prints.
The artist is also frequently found with the name writing of Ono Bakufu." http://www.artelino.com/articles/ohno-bakufu.asp
"...Ohno produced many landscape and fish prints, including the Familiar Fishes of Nippon (Dai Nihon gyorui gashu) in 1940, which was published by Kyoto Hanga-in; blocks were carved by Matsuda and Kikuda, printed by Shinagawa, Nagae, Uchida and Ohno.
Prints by Ohno never carried title text, and as a result the woodblock print community (including both collectors as well as galleries) has often applied 'unofficial' titles to prints in a haphazard way.
Fortunately access to official titles for some prints does exist via the woodblock print catalogs issued by Kyoto Hanga-In and Shinagawa. At least 3 such catalogs have been published, but the exact years of publication remain unknown because the catalogs themselves carry no indication of publication date. I estimate that the approximate publication date of my catalog http://www.ohmigallery.com/ImageDatabase/Bakufu/Bakufu.htm undefined
