Robert Archer is an American artist who did not receive the greatest recognition but was a wonderful artist. His painting, Approaching Storm circa 1938, is in the Smithsonian American Art Museum. (https://new.liveauctioneers.com/item/1783339_oil-on-canvas-skyscraper-robert-p-archer)
Very little about this artist online and what little there is is hard to find. For the nonce, I'm going to post what bits and pieces I do find here and then try to puzzle it all together into a complete picture. [sh]

He was born in 1905, and was active in Annandale, New Jersey
He painted at least one Saturday Evening Post Cover, March 4, 1939.
He has one work in the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

The Presbyterian Church, East Broadway, Roslyn, which has been closed for many years, will be opened Monday as an art studio by Robert P. Archer and Charles J. Lundgren of Sea Cliff, both noted artists. The church building is being renovated.
