Scott Alario's recent series "What We Conjure” features staged depictions of Alario's immediate family and their surroundings, created over the course of two years in Rhode Island and Maine. Alario uses a large format 8 x 10 view camera to capture these imaginative scenes, shooting images on regular film and then printing the images digitally. In “Preparing to Connect with Nature (All the Houseplants)” a female figure appears from behind a canopy of houseplants, conveying a playful tension between the natural landscape and domestic space.
