Soraida Martinez is a contemporary American artist of Puerto Rican heritage born 1956 in Harlem, New York City. Martinez is also a social advocate who since 1992 has been known as the creator of Verdadism, a form of hard-edge abstraction in which every painting is accompanied by a written social commentary.
