French artist Stéphane Calais continues his vivacious investigation of materials, here presenting his unique paintings atop handprinted wallpaper in an installation that generates a “game of movement, size and surface.” The paintings can also be shown as individual works and are signature examples of his multifaceted gestures and his exuberant take on the world. Calais has been shown internationally at galleries and museums, most recently at the Centre Pompidou, Paris, the Musée d'Art Moderne et Contemporain, Strasbourg, and a current solo show at Passerelle Centre d’Art Contemporain, Brest He was a finalist for the 2008 Marcel Duchamp Prize and awarded a major commission for the HAVAS Paris Headquarters in 2012. undefined
