Passion - Indulgence - Sexuality
In ancient Greek myth, Uranus is a symbol of hedonistic, carnal, and passionate acts. Insistent on indulging himself, Uranus often ignores the implications of his behavior in favor of satiating his desires. He symbolizes a lover that engages all of his passions, letting creativity, originality, and self- absorption lead to plenty of surprises.
In a reading, one who receives the Uranus card may be indulging themselves creatively, sexually, or even by lusting over self-absorbed endeavors. It may be a time of incredible obsession. Something may have gotten ahold of a person’s interest and the desire to pursue it may eclipse all other responsibilities. All-night binging may not satiate this hunger, in fact, it may even provoke more intense feelings of freedom and inspiration to do more, faster, and longer.
The eccentric nature of this card is what breeds unique artists, performers, and scientists. The ability to continue pursuing their own interests can lead to incredible breakthroughs and masterpieces.
Uranus reversed is cautionary, warning that diving head first into one’s passions without checking to see how deep the pool is can lead to headache, paralysis, or even drowning in one’s endeavors. Surprise is part of Uranus’s spirit -- let’s just hope the surprise is a good one.
