Artist and west coast native, Tyler Spangler, crafts colorfully intoxicating ‘digital collages’, using a multitude of shapes, figures, photographs, and patterns, ultimately unifying images that entrance viewers and establish a sort of organized chaos. His work forces viewers to stop and take the time to physically and mentally process a wide variety of abstractions and forms within each collage. His work extends internationally, collaborating with an array of people, in addition to completing several extensive books filled with his own personal masterpieces. Tyler is very connected to the music, surf, and textile industries, which is where he freelance’s the majority of his work, finding a comforting familiarity, however he is always on the hunt for new platforms and places to expand his work.
Tyler gave The WILD an exclusive look into his daily routine and discussed topics ranging from dropping out of art school, starting A Place of Worship, an illegal, all-ages music and art warehouse venue, and his homage to social media.
