The Riace bronzes Bronzi di Riace), also called the Riace Warriors, are 2 full-size Greek bronzes of naked bearded warriors, cast about 460–450 BC, found in the sea near Riace in 1972. The bronzes are currently located at the Museo Nazionale della Magna Grecia in the southern Italian city of Reggio Calabria, Italy.... The 2 bronze sculptures are simply known as Statue A, referring to the one portraying a younger warrior, and Statue B, indicating the more mature-looking one. Statue A is 203 centimeters tall while Statue B stands 196.5 centimeters tall.... (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riace_bronzes) At first glance, they appear to be realistic, beautiful representations of two Greek athletes. But when art historians looked closer they noticed their chests were too symmetrical, their spines too deep, their coccyx too small to be realistic. Greek sculptors had exaggerated their bodies to try to make them look like their gods. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/4532785.stm)
