Wendla ”Venny” Irene Soldan-Brofeldt (2 November 1863 Helsinki – 10 October 1945 Lohja); artist, designer and illustrator from Finland. She studied art in Helsinki, Russia and France.
Venny Soldan was born into a family of six children. Her father was keen to promote Finnish language and culture, at a time when Finland was not yet independent. Her mother was of German origin, and Venny Soldan went to German schools. She studied art in Helsinki, St. Petersburg and Paris. She also took lessons from artist Maria Wiik.
She painted scenes from everyday life, and often of her own family.
Soldan-Brofeldt was married to writer Juhani Aho. Their home, Ahola, was located at Tuusulanjärvi lake near Sibelius' home Ainola. She was described as a bohemian and a suffragette, who had masculine habits such cycling, smoking pipe and wearing trousers.
