Bedroom At Arles (first version)

Vincent van Gogh, 1888

Bedroom in Arles is the title given to each of 3 similar paintings by van Gogh. His own title for this composition was simply The Bedroom. There are 3 authentic versions described in his letters, easily discernible from one another by the pictures on the wall to the right. Van Gogh started the first version during mid October 1888 while staying in Arles.... This version has on the wall to the right miniatures of Van Gogh's portraits of his friends Eugène Boch and Paul-Eugène Milliet. The portrait of Eugène Boch is called The Poet and the portrait of Paul Eugène Milliet is called The Lover. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bedroom_in_Arles Other versions at: http://curiator.com/art/vincent-van-gogh/bedroom-at-arles-second-version http://curiator.com/art/vincent-van-gogh/bedroom-in-arles-third-version See: http://extras.artic.edu/van-gogh-bedrooms/about-paintings/chair for discussion of differences between paintings.
