William T. Hillman was born in 1954 in the USA. Trained as a painter and academic, Hillman studied landscape painting at the Lacoste School of the arts in France and portraiture and anatomy at the Art Students League in New York City. He re- ceived his MA and an MBA from Princeton and Columbia Universities.
He has experimented throughout his career, moving from painting to montage to computer-digitized photographic images. Recent exhibitions include East Meets West on the East End: LTMH Gallery Southampton, Entwined SCAD: Atlanta, TINA B. – The Prague Contemporary Art Festival – Forms of Engagement and Chelsea Meets Havana at the 10th Havana Biennial in Havana, Cuba.
Working through a series of evolving projects, Hillman explores the complex connections between subject matter and style, as well as a wide range of landscape, abstract, and figurative photography in an approach to experimental investigation and expression that is designed to foreground individual creativity and imagination.
Hillman’s work is included in the collections of the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Hillman lives and works in New York City. undefined
