Winifred Fergus studied drawing and painting at Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen, graduating in 1984.
Since then she has exhibited widely and she is a regular exhibitor at the Royal Scottish Academy. She has won a number of awards including the Shell Expro Award —Aberdeen Artists Society, John Murray Thomson Award — Royal Scottish Academy and the Maude Gemmel Hutchison Prize — Royal Scottish Academy.
She has works in the public collections of Robert Gordon University— Aberdeen, Grampian Hospitals Arts Trust, Aberdeen Art Gallery, Edinburgh Hospitals Art Trust and in private collections throughout the UK and worldwide.
Winifred’s work is a mixture of figurative and still life subjects. More recently she has been focusing on wildlife paintings, choosing to paint birds and animals that are common to her environment in rural Aberdeenshire.
