Born in 1987 in the city of Nanjing, China, Yi moved to the U.S.A. in 2007. She received her BFA from Otis College of Art and Design in 2012.
With a background in oriental painting, Yi has developed a love for traditional materials, handmade paper and raw pigments as media, exploring possibilities of combining new synthetics.
Her narrative playgrounds incorporate curious characters and landscapes transcending time and space. In this recent work, she portrays the sense of immediacy through poetic means within the subconscious mind. Yi’s paintings veil an impression of serenity enveloping a facade of unbridled emotional absurdity. undefined
