OK, she's not actually doing women's work; just giving the appearance of it, so I have included her in the A Woman's Work is Never Finished Room. Apparently, even if you are not working, you must look like you are, to appear to be a virtuous woman.... ? Or, I see now she is winding yarn around a rose. Maybe this is lady's work. [sh] Susannah Hoare (1732-83), elder daughter of Henry Hoare II from his second marriage. After the death of her first husband, Susannah resided at Stourhead, with her father. Wearing a widow's cap, she is dressed in half-mourning with a pink silk gown lined with delicate black ruffles.
